About Category Checker

Category Checker is a free MSNugget tool that checks how a website or URL is categorized across security and web filtering platforms. It's built for Microsoft Global Secure Access administrators, security administrators, network administrators, cloud architects, and IT professionals who need to validate category-based access decisions quickly.

Why it exists

Category-based access policies (in Global Secure Access, a secure web gateway, or a firewall) only work correctly if every enforcement point agrees on how a domain is categorized. In practice, vendors disagree — a domain can be "Business" in one console and "Uncategorized" in another. Category Checker surfaces that disagreement in one place instead of five browser tabs.

How it works

Every provider implements the same CategoryProvider interface. Today, all five providers return mock, deterministic sample data so the interface and architecture can be built and validated before wiring in real vendor APIs.
